Griselda Monroy

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be in Stanly County.  My name is Griselda Monroy, I am from Guatemala and I am a Spanish teacher. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, I ́ve been teaching for 10 years and I love what I do, this year I want to reach one of my goals and share my knowledge and culture to students from other countries, I’m really excited to be here.  As a XXI century teacher I want to show them that learn new things and explore the world from the classroom could be interesting and fun.

Nowadays there are a lot of methods and techniques that teachers can use to prepare the students, in my class we will work with Community Language Learning, in this method attempts are made to build strong personal links between the teacher and student so that there are no blocks to learning, we will also work with the communicative approach that is the most widely used and most widely accepted approach to classroom-based foreign language teaching today.

The students will learn Spanish but also I want to show them my culture, the food, music, traditions and other things about Guatemala and other Latin American countries, and of course I want to learn from them about the USA.

In closing, I would like to express that one of the most important goals this year is to keep communication with all the community, especially with parents, positive and constant communication will allow the success of your child.
